Need to split an absolute / SSI encoder signal?
Absolute / SSI encoders and linear positioning devices provide an absolute position which is retained if power is turned off. If the encoder or linear positioning device is moved while power is off, the new position is indicated when power is resumed.
To 'split' an SSI signal or to sent to multiple controllers one needs to set up one master and multiple slaves. For example, one solution is to use the Motrona IX350 SSI display and program it as the master, and program the other devices as slaves. The IX350 can be programmed to show the position of the SSI position. The IX350 with AC supply can provide a 24V DC supply to power up the encoder. If your encoder requires a 5V supply, this can be provided by the IX355.
An added significant benefit is that the IX350/IX355 has a scaleable display which will show the position of the encoder (not an SSI count).
